Longtime friend of LOVEWANT Bambi Northwood-Blyth was on the ground for us at Michael Kors Spring/Summer 2027 in New York, sending back her notes from the Big Apple.

Bambi has always had that Michael Kors ease. She can wear something polished without ever looking overdone. A sharp coat, bare legs with a good bag, then something slightly undone. It suits her.

We followed Bambi through the day, from getting ready to arriving at MoMA for the show, with her own observations on the collection along the way. A small dispatch from inside fashion week, seen through someone who already understands the Kors woman instinctively.

Ok, so MoMA was good for this. The clothes looked at home there. Short jackets, very small skirts, black dresses, white boots. Nothing needed much introduction. Take a second look at the black looks, which  were the ones I kept coming back to. There was a green suit that felt very cool in its proportions. Very short. Very clean. Too much leg. Good. A few dresses had fabric dropping away from the body in odd places. I liked that too. Kors can be so exact that any small disruption becomes noticeable. The colour came in hard. bambi wore red. Others green. Yellow where you would not expect it. Some think a white boots could have looked ridiculous. Here they didn’t. Same with the sunglasses. Very Sixties, obviously, but the girls do not look too dressed up wearimg them. Very NYC cool girl.

Now the bags were excellent. The metal handles especially. There was a transparent one stuffed with newspapers and a MoMA programme. That made me smile. Some of the art references were probably too clear. Did we need all of them. maybe? I love it when the clothes are just clothes. But thats me! What I do admire is a black dress cut slightly strangely. Coats that sit closer than expected. Hot! Love a hem that suddenly drops. All of those are the things Kors does so well. Buono.
